This is Aoufous. I live here.

It´s a very tiny city between Errachidia and Erfoud, in the oases part of Morocco (south-east). It´s a rural city with, according to the last census made in 2004, 1272 inhabitants.

The village has an elementary school and a high-school, but no university. This means that young people have to move away to continue studying and that, as you can imagine, there are no people I can really talk to (sniff, sniff).

Anyway, the main source of income here is growing palm-trees and, ad a result, dates.

Every Thursday and Sunday there is the souq where you can find absolutely everything: from clothes to stolen technology (yop…), from food to what in Europe we throw away (it´s very easy to find someone selling rubbish: old printers, one shoe, broken cables, an old cd or the waterproof case for a GoPro). It´s very easy as well to find some pervs touching your ass , but that´s more or less everywhere here.

As you can see in the pictures, it´s quite common to find a donkey in the middle of the street and the smoke you see in the third picture sadly happens every week: they burn mountains of rubbish in the middle of the village.

As a tourist there is nothing to see here, nothing at all. But, the moment you exit the village, there are beautiful rural landscapes and you definitely should take a walk in the palmeraie.
